Outer Banks Fishing Reports

Tuna, Dolphin, Tilefish & Friends

Mark Jr. & his crowd were with us today. Some of these folks have fished with us a few times before. It was fun spending the day with some friends & meeting some new folks. Fishing was still on the slow side, but some decent tuna are still biting & dolphin fishing should be picking up from here on out. As usual, one lady showed up a boat full of men, with the largest catch. With a couple tuna and dolphins in the boat, we were off to the bottom hole, in order to stock some freezers. The  plan worked out, with a limit of tasty tilefish.

For those of you unfamiliar with tilefish, the following is an excerpt from the Cooperative Extension Service for Sarasota County website:

 http://sarasota.extension.ufl.edu/FCS/FlaFoodFare/Tilefish.htm

Tilefish have firm, tender meat similar to that of grouper.  Its flavor has been compared to lobster and scallop meat, a reflection of a diet that consists of crustaceans, such as lobster and crabs.”

In other words, this stuff is good!

Thanks Mark Jr. & crew. We enjoyed fishing with y’all, as always. Don’t wait until that freezer is empty to come back to see us.
